About You

Your turn!

Many folks are brand new to somatic work. Here are a few questions frequently asked:

What does working together look like?

We begin with a free consultation call. I like to get a sense of what brings you here, then share about how I work and see if we are good fit. If so, I invite you in for a fuller assessment where at the end we decide to work together or not.

As we get to know each other and I get to know your nervous system, we begin supporting you in learning the language of your body and upping your capacity for feeling what's present in the moment. Then, as we go deeper, we prepare for some of the trauma negotiation work, that is, very gently working with the after-affects of trauma and completing in-complete stress/survival response cycles.

How many sessions does it take to notice change?

Some people notice a shift in how they are feeling during the first session. Bringing those shifts into daily life in between sessions can take a bit or a long while longer.

Are online sessions as effective as in person?

They are! Which is amazing to me but we are able to work in almost the exact same ways and where we can't, we adapt. I have loved being able to keep working with my clients in Scotland, Germany and other places in the US!

How do I know it's for me?

We go through a thorough process to make sure we are a good fit and if we're not, I'll let you know and sometimes make suggestions as to what or who I think may be a better fit. That said, here are a few pieces folks who are working with me often have in common:

A wish to relate to oneself and ones body in more gentle, loving, compassionate ways

A willingness to learn and laugh and be curious about the process

A desire to feel the whole gamut of human emotions from grief to exuberance and expansive joy and live more fully

A wish to heal from debilitating and often chronic health issues

Prior experience of multiple modalities yet issues ongoing

I work with mamas who are dog-tired, angry and resentful

Daughters who have been told to keep quiet and be good

Entrepreneurs nervous to take the leap

Women touched in ways they didn't want

People in chronic physical pain

Men who have lost their voice and tend put themselves one down

Retirees, terrified in the last quarter of their life

All ready for change in their ways of feeling and being and all showing up for it, trepidation and all.

I see people experiencing stress, overwhelm, anxiety, depression, trauma (developmental, perinatal, shock, sexual and surgical), feeling stuck in life and/or relationships, loss, grief, anger, near death experiences, career changes, being at a crossroads in life. This list is not exhaustive but hopefully gives you the gist.
